The recent acquittal of Ram Puneet Tiwary of the murders of fellow Singaporeans Tay Chow Lyang and Tan Poh Chuan in 2003 has left people asking one question -- if he wasn't the culprit, then who is?
Mr Tiwary was first found guilty of the murders in 2006 and jailed for life, before a re-trial meted out the same verdict.
In a report on The New Paper, the mother of Tan Poh Chuan was left in shock by Ram's acquittal.
64-year-old Madam Chiew Lee Hua was quoted as saying that she 'had to watch the news a few times, over and over, but I still cannot come to terms with it'.
Meanwhile, Mr Tiwary's family breathed a sigh of relief at what they thought was the right decision.
They also extended their condolences to the victim's families, and hope that the authorities 'intensify their search for the real culprit.'
