A recent New Paper report stated that Ngee Ann Polytechnic students were deemed to be the vainest among the five polytechnics. TNP polled 1,000 students, 100 boys and 100 girls from each institute.
The survey consisted of questions about how often the students go for hair treatments, shopping, the kind of beauty enhancements used and how much they are willing to spend on these.
Out of 100 points, Ngee Ann Polytechnic (NP) came in first with 43.1 points.
Temasek Polytechnic (TP) came in second, with 43 points.
Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP) is third with 42 points.
Singapore Polytechnic (SP) is fourth with 40.1 points and Republic Polytechnic (RP) scored the lowest with 40 points.
Polytechnic students were once thought of as sloppy dressers, but they seem to have picked up their game and are paying more attention to their dressing and appearance.
Schools with students who are less "vain" said that they concentrate more on their studies and thus the low scoring.
Whereas, schools with "vainer" students defended themselves by saying that they take extra effort to look presentable.
