North Korea is reportedly exporting beautiful brides in a bid to attract foreign investment to their country. For $76,000, their government will pick a bride for you.
After payment is made, an educated woman of appropriate age will be chosen to marry the foreigner. Most of the women involved in the scheme are around the age of 20.
Although transnational marriage is increasingly common in a globalized world, North Korea's move to 'export their beauties' to attract foreign investment is unusual given its reputation as an autocratic and closed country.
South Korean observers have criticized this as a honey-trap set by North Korean authorities to attract foreign investment. The move is also perhaps a reflection of North Korea's dire economic situation.

"This move taken by the government did not come as a surprise to me at all. They are well-known as an authoritarian state, and selling women for the sake of money will not bug their conscience.
"Who knows, maybe these women who are sold to a foreigner can have a better life overseas as compared to their current way of life in North Korea.
"This has also shown me how bad North Korea's economy is, that they need to resort to exporting their own citizens out in exchange for money.
"I wonder how many people will actually buy North Korean brides at such a steep price."
